Women’s Shelter
NFHC’s Women’s Shelter provides safe shelter, crisis intervention, advocacy, counseling, and life skills training to women and their children affected by domestic violence. Telephone crisis intervention and information is available 24 hours a day.
Currently our Women’s Shelter maintains 24 beds. These beds and associated services are available to all women and their children who are fleeing domestic violence and need a place to stay. Women complete an intake assessment to ensure appropriate care and support.
Women’s Shelter services include:
- A 24-bed secured facility serving as a safe, comfortable refuge for women escaping relationship violence
- Professional counseling and crisis intervention with agency staff
Advocacy, education, support and referrals for obtaining services from other agencies - A non-violent, self-esteem enhancing living and playing environment for children of battered women
- Individualized case management & safety planning
The Women’s Shelter provides respite and care for women and their children at HALO House for an initial stay of 10 days, depending on circumstances and their recovery. Shelter is provided for a maximum stay of 120 days.
