Community Education Program
In the early 1990s, Northland Family Help Center began a proactive Community Education program designed to decrease instances of sexual and relationship violence. Currently, it includes the P.E.A.C.E. Project, MARS Project, and other educational programs and training workshops for community members and youth.
NFHC’s Community Education Program provides interactive education presentations and training targeting rape prevention and education. Topics and discussions are arranged for specific age groups and special populations. The P.E.A.C.E. Project engages teens in peer education through dramatic presentations and discussion, while the M.A.R.S. Project educates the NAU community.
Positive Youth Connections

Northland Family Help Center is dedicated to the elimination of sexual and relationship violence in Northern Arizona.
Because of this dedication, NFHC is strategically using several cutting edge theories to enhance the reach of prevention education.
To begin, our programs are running on the Ecological Model. The Ecological Model is a way to make sure we are addressing Primary Prevention through education at all levels of society. We aim to educate the individual, family and friends, the school systems and the larger city. We have shifted our curriculum to focus on multi session presentations in order to really saturate our audience with sexual violence prevention education.
We know that in this day and age it is very difficult for everyone to find time for anything. However, we also know that our material and our presentations prevent rape. That is really important to us. In order to reach that level of prevention, we have to comply to our 3 or more session curriculum. This way we can saturate our students with skill sets needed to have healthy relationships that are violence free.
By approaching education in this manner, we are going to be able to change Northern Arizona into a more friendly and healthy place for Families!
All of NFHC’s trainings are presented with relevant, localized and reliable statistics, grounded in theory, and culturally specific. Every training is presented through the use of several presentation methods (interactive theatre, video, creative expression, guided discussion and limited lecture).
ALL TRAININGS AND WORKSHOPS ARE FREE!
