Saving Jobs and Services!
Through a unique partnership with Open Inn, Northland Family Help Center (NFHC) is able to save jobs and services associated with our Children’s Shelter. It all started September 2009 over coffee with Nancy Panico, Open Inn’s Executive Director. We devised a collaboration that allows each agency to have a key role in providing services while sharing and maximizing each agency’s resources. Open Inn is closing their current location (known as the Alternatives Center for Family Based Services). They are providing the program management of the combined shelters and respite program, which have a shared capacity for 12 kids. NFHC will provide the clinical oversight/supervision and the facility. NFHC is maintaining its Office of Behavioral Health Licensing Level 3 License, current contracts and funding sources, while Open Inn is maintaining their contracts and funding sources.

Open Inn and NFHC have maintained a successful partnership since the opening of the Alternatives Center in 1996. With this innovative partnership, we will continue our positive relationship, create an opportunity to re-assess our community needs around youth support services, and set a new standard for collaboration. We are very grateful for all of the support we’ve received from our partners, particularly the support from Brian Matsuda and his staff at Coconino County Juvenile Court.

Families can access services by calling the Children’s Shelter at 527-1800.
